Dr. Daniel Cox is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, and Special Education at the University of British Columbia, holding the Myrne B. Nevison Professorship in Counselling Psychology. His work focuses on optimizing psychotherapy processes and social support systems to improve mental health outcomes.
Research Interests:
- Therapeutic responsiveness and interpersonal frameworks in counselling
- Preventive and early intervention approaches for at-risk populations
- Digital crisis intervention tools (e.g., chat-based support)
- Mitigating mental health stigma through culturally adaptive methods
- Dynamic counsellor-client interactions and suicide prevention
- Autonomy in digital mental health services
