Daniel Clarke is a Lecturer in Adult Nursing (Education) at the University of Plymouth's School of Nursing and Midwifery (part of the Faculty of Health). He holds a Bachelor of Nursing (BN) from the University of Southampton and has extensive clinical experience in Emergency Departments at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. His teaching focuses on Emergency Care, Clinical Skills, Pathophysiology, and Acute Care, with a particular emphasis on Minor Injuries and Illness across the lifespan. He also serves as a Mountain Rescue Casualty Carer, integrating field medicine into his pedagogical approach.
Clarke’s research interests center on sustainability in healthcare education, nursing pedagogy, and climate crisis awareness within the profession. Notable contributions include studies on student nurses’ responses to unsustainable clinical practices and the effectiveness of peer-led simulation in clinical skills training.
His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 13 (Climate Action). He has published widely on topics ranging from nursing education innovations to metabolic disorders and inflammatory pathways, reflecting both clinical and academic versatility.
