He advocates for active learning through data-driven student explorations to build interconnected mental structures of mathematical concepts, emphasizing that mathematics exists within practitioners' minds.
As a Mathematical Association of America member, he received an NSF grant for the SPIRAL Project redesigning OLLU's lab-based College Algebra course under the Improving Undergraduate STEM Education program for Hispanic Serving Institutions.
His Math Center coordination role supports student academic success. Outside academia, he enjoys carpentry, woodworking, family time, and Aikido—having spent two decades building his Hill Country home.
