Daniel Carranza is an Assistant Professor of Germanic Languages and Literatures at Harvard University, currently on leave for 2024-25. He holds an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, supported by fellowships from the Fulbright and Humboldt Foundations. His research bridges German literature, philosophy, and science, with a focus on lyric poetics, Kant-to-Heidegger philosophy, and interdisciplinary connections between philology and scientific thought.

Research Interests: Explores how poetry engages philosophical thought, particularly through formalist analysis of lyric traditions. Investigates intersections between literary history and scientific methodologies, emphasizing Kantian and Heideggerian frameworks. Serves as German Studies Director for the Society for German Idealism & Romanticism (SGIR).
