معرفی
Daniel Bexell is an Associate Professor at the Department of Translational Cancer Research, Lund University, where he serves as a Research Group Leader in Molecular Pediatric Oncology and a Principal Investigator at the Lund University Cancer Center (LUCC). His research focuses on developing clinically relevant models for neuroblastoma to identify novel therapeutic strategies.
- UN Global Goals: Linked to Basic Cancer Research and Cancer and Oncology
- Key Expertise: Pediatric cancer, neuroblastoma treatment resistance, metastasis, cancer modeling
Research Themes: Bexell investigates mechanisms of neuroblastoma metastasis and chemoresistance using patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models that mimic clinical disease patterns. His work targets signaling pathways (e.g., KSP, PIM/PI3K/mTOR) to develop drugs blocking tumor progression and metastasis, with emphasis on genetic heterogeneity and evolutionary trajectories in childhood cancers. Collaborations span institutions like the Swedish Research Council and Barncancerfonden.
Scientific Awards:
- ERC Consolidator Grant (2023)
- Swedish Research Council Consolidator Grant (2023)
- Senior Research Position (2020)
- Per-Eric and Ulla Schyberg Foundation (2019)
- Åke Wiberg's Million-Dollar Grant (2019)
Leadership Roles: Organizer of LUCC-Child webinars on chemotherapy resistance and precision treatments in pediatric cancers (2018–2025). Principal Investigator for the active project Deciphering and Targeting Treatment-Resistant Metastatic Neuroblastoma funded by Cancerfonden and Kungliga Fysiografiska Sällskapet i Lund.
