Benamouzig's research integrates economic sociology and political sociology of healthcare, focusing on institutional transformations, healthcare economics history in France, and the mobilization of economic knowledge in public policy. His work critically examines bureaucratic responses to uncertainty and the interplay between scientific expertise and governance structures in health systems.
His publication trends reveal consistent focus on health policy instrumentation, organizational responses to uncertainty, and power dynamics in public health governance. Recent work emphasizes measurement methodologies for corporate political influence, universal health coverage challenges, and knowledge formalization in bureaucratic settings, demonstrating interdisciplinary approaches bridging sociology, public administration, and health policy analysis.
Benamouzig actively shapes health policy through leadership roles including Co-director of Alliance AVIESAN’s Public Health Multi-Organisation Thematic Institute, President of the French National Health Authority’s Social Science Committee, and Member of the National Conference on Health. His advisory work spans governmental bodies, foundations, and research consortia including the Nicolas Hulot Foundation and Terra Nova Foundation.
He directs the PRINCEPS programme on health crises while co-leading LIEPP's Health programme, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration between sociologists, public health experts, and policymakers to address complex health governance challenges through empirical research and policy experimentation.
