Daniel A. Simon is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Oklahoma, serving as Assistant Director & Editor-in-Chief of World Literature Today (WLT). He is affiliated with the Department of English, Schusterman Center for Judaic & Israel Studies, and Department of International & Area Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences. With a PhD from Indiana University Bloomington (2000), Dr. Simon has led WLT to over two dozen awards and expanded its readership to 1.3 million annually.
- Research & Creative Work: Poetry (Cast Off, After Reading Everything, Under a Gathering Sky), literary translation, and editing. Focus on global literary dialogues, historical trauma (Tulsa Race Massacre centennial), and Great Plains literature.
- Honors: 2018 Nebraska Book Award for Nebraska Poetry, Publishers Weekly starred pick for Dispatches from the Republic of Letters, seven Pushcart Prize nominations.
- Academic Leadership: Co-chaired Tulsa Race Massacre centennial commemorations (2020–2021), spearheaded a minor in editing and publishing (2019).
Publications: His 2024 collection Under a Gathering Sky and forthcoming A Compass on the Navigable Sea (2026) are central to his contributions. Poems appear in Prairie Schooner, Harvard Review, and international anthologies.
