Daniel A Bonevac is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin, College of Liberal Arts. He holds a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh and served as Chairman of the Philosophy Department from 1991 to 2001.
His research spans Metaphysics, Philosophical Logic, Ethics, and Philosophy of Mathematics, with significant contributions to semantics and conditional logic. He explores intersections with Cognitive Science while examining Non-Western and Christian philosophical traditions. His work addresses foundational questions in logical systems and ethical frameworks.
He received the Johnsonian Prize from The Journal of Philosophy for his book Reduction in the Abstract Sciences.
Professor Bonevac teaches core philosophy courses including Ideas of the Twentieth Century (UGS 303), Ethical Theories (PHL 325K), Organizational Ethics (PHL 325N/HDO 325N), and History of Christian Philosophy (PHL 356D/CTI 335C) across multiple semesters from Fall 2020 to projected Fall 2025 offerings.
