Dana Indihar

Dana Indihar serves as Assistant Professor of Microbiology/Virology in the Department of Biological Sciences at Alabama A&M University, actively participating in the Science Education Alliance-Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science (SEA-PHAGES) program.

Her research specializes in bacteriophage discovery and genomic analysis, with particular focus on Arthrobacter globiformis host systems. Through the SEA-PHAGES initiative, she integrates undergraduate education with cutting-edge research in microbial evolution and genomics, emphasizing hands-on laboratory techniques and bioinformatics.

For Fall 2025, she instructs BIO 481: Research in Bio with 5 undergraduate students (1 freshman, 4 sophomores), conducting 4 hours of weekly class sessions plus 4 hours of open lab time dedicated to phage isolation and characterization. Her work contributes to the national SEA network advancing phage genomics education.
