Dana Eichhorst is a Research Associate at the Institute of Jewish Studies at Freie Universität Berlin. She works on the research project ToRoll: Materialized Holiness. Torah Scrolls as a Codicological, Theological, and Sociological Phenomenon of Jewish Written Culture in the Diaspora. Her academic background combines Judaic studies and art history, with a focus on Jewish esoteric traditions and manuscript cultures.
- Magister in Jewish Studies and Art History (Freie Universität Berlin, 2012)
- PhD in Jewish Studies (Tel Aviv University, 2020/2021)
Her research interests include:
- Jewish mysticism and Kabbalah
- Transmission of esoteric knowledge in manuscripts
- Material culture of Torah scrolls
- Christian reception of Kabbalistic texts
- Comparative studies of Jewish and Christian intellectual history
She previously participated in the DFG research group Topik und Tradition and has expertise in analyzing Hebrew manuscripts and interdisciplinary approaches to Jewish cultural studies.
