Dana Dekel serves as a Research Officer in the School of Psychology at Swansea University, with her office located in the Vivian Building on Singleton Campus. She is actively involved in mental health research with a specific focus on vulnerable populations and is available for postgraduate supervision.
Her research interests center on child and adolescent mental health, suicide and self-harm prevention, qualitative research methodologies, gambling-related harms, and military/veterans' mental health. She employs mixed-method approaches to investigate how digital platforms influence mental health behaviors, particularly among youth populations, and examines the impact of global crises like the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health outcomes across diverse demographic groups.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong thematic focus on pandemic-related mental health impacts, with particular attention to youth populations, healthcare workers, and individuals with self-harm histories. Her work frequently employs systematic review methodology alongside qualitative approaches, demonstrating expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research paradigms within mental health research.
Dr. Dekel collaborates extensively with Professor Ann John, as evidenced by their joint work on multiple publications and a specific Suicide Prevention Strategy Collaboration project funded at £13,983. She contributes to several academic modules including Population Health & The Art of Research, Capstone Project, and Child Health.
