Dana Charles McCoy is the Marie and Max Kargman Associate Professor in Human Development and Urban Education at Harvard University's Graduate School of Education (HGSE). She co-chairs the Human Development and Education Program (HDE). Her research focuses on how poverty-related risks in children's environments affect cognitive and socioemotional development, particularly in early childhood. She specializes in designing and evaluating early intervention programs targeting self-regulation and executive function in marginalized populations internationally.

Research Interests: Global education equity, evidence-based interventions, interdisciplinary methodologies, and scalable solutions for early childhood development. Current projects include evaluating socio-emotional learning programs in Brazil, measuring child development in low-resource settings, and long-term outcomes of classroom interventions.
Awards & Collaboration: Works with WHO, UNICEF, and World Bank. Collaborations include Northwestern University, São Paulo School of Economics, and Tools of the Mind. Funding sources include IES, NIH, Harvard's Lemann Fund, and HGSE's Dean's Venture Fund.
Key Contributions: Developed the Caregiver Reported Early Development Index (CREDI), a tool to measure child development in populations under age 3, piloted in 16 countries. Leads the Chicago School Readiness Project follow-up study tracking long-term academic and socioemotional outcomes.
