Dan Trueman serves as Professor of Music and Director of the Princeton Sound Kitchen at Princeton University, where he teaches counterpoint, electronic music, and composition. A composer, fiddler, and electronic musician, he integrates Norwegian Hardanger fiddle traditions with digital innovation through ensembles like the Princeton Laptop Orchestra.
His research spans rhythmic connections between traditional dance music and machines, phrasing/tuning of Norwegian folk traditions, and digital instrument design. Key projects include the Prepared Digital Piano system, Hardanger d'Amore fiddle development, and ChucK music programming language applications.
