Dan Stark

Professor Dan Stark serves as Professor of Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Research and Consultant at the University of Leeds School of Medicine, with leadership roles including Deputy Academic Training Programme Director for NIHR ICAT West Yorkshire and Chair of the National Research Group on Teenagers and Young Adults and Germ Cell Tumours (2018-2025).

Stark's research centers on Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) cancer, specializing in sarcomas and germ cell tumours while pioneering quality-of-life assessments in clinical trials and practice. He leads the European Network for Teenagers and Young Adults with Cancer and developed the ENQUIRE medical education program, embedding research enquiry skills across Leeds' undergraduate medical curriculum since 2010.

He supervises PhD candidates including Nicola Hughes (2018-2024) and directs major research initiatives such as the EU FP7 TYA cancer program (2011-2016) and current international collaborations (2022-2027). His national influence spans NHS England's Clinical Reference Group for Children and Young People's cancer services and Royal College of Physicians workforce development.

Stark co-leads the Division of Oncology Research at Leeds Cancer Centre, serves as Regional Network clinical lead for TYA cancer and germ cell tumours, and contributes to SIOPE-Europe and ESMO committees shaping European AYA cancer education standards.
