Dan O'Sullivan is a Lecturer at the School of Education, University College Cork (UCC), where he has been a permanent faculty member since September 2007. His career spans over four decades, beginning as a primary teacher in Cork (1977–2007) before transitioning to higher education. His doctoral research focused on beginning teacher identity formation. He currently co-directs the Postgraduate Diploma in Special Educational Needs (PDSEN) and coordinates multiple modules across UCC’s M.Ed. and PME programmes.

Research Focus:
Dan’s research is centered on inclusive education, special educational needs (SEN), teacher identity formation, literacy, and professional development. His work investigates how beginning teachers navigate their identity in school contexts, the implementation of inclusive pedagogies, and the role of policy in shaping educational equity.
Current Projects:
He is Co-Principal Investigator on two major NCSE-funded projects: the Universal Design for Learning Support Model Pilot Evaluation (2024–2026) and the INCLASS study (2024–2025), both aimed at enhancing inclusive practices in Irish schools.
Supervision and Mentorship:
Dan co-supervises five doctoral students and has mentored numerous M.Ed. and PhD graduates. His supervision topics include teacher professional learning, autistic teacher wellbeing, alternative education, school leadership, and inclusive education for children with autism.
