Dan Nomura

Dan Nomura is a Professor of Chemical Biology and Molecular Therapeutics at the University of California, Berkeley, affiliated with the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB). He is also an Investigator at the Innovative Genomics Institute and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). His work focuses on developing chemoproteomic platforms to target the undruggable proteome for transformative medicine.

Education:

• Postdoctoral Fellow in Chemical Biology, The Scripps Research Institute (2011)

Research Interests:
Dr. Nomura’s research addresses challenges in drug discovery by pioneering chemoproteomic technologies to identify novel ligandable hotspots, expand targeted protein degradation, and develop induced proximity-based therapeutics. His group integrates chemical biology with machine learning to tackle undruggable proteins.

He serves on the Scientific Advisory Boards for Frontier Medicines, Vicinitas Therapeutics, Zenith, Photys Therapeutics, Apertor Pharma, Oerth Bio, and Deciphera Pharmaceuticals. He is also a co-founder of Frontier Medicines and Vicinitas Therapeutics, and the founder of Zenith. His roles extend to Investment Advisory Boards at Droia Ventures, a16z Bio+Health, and The Column Group.
