Dan Milz is an Assistant Professor with a dual appointment in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning and the Matsunaga Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. He teaches in the Environmental Planning and Sustainability Course Stream and the Matsunaga Institute’s Conflict Resolution Certificate Program.

His applied studies include wastewater planning on Cape Cod, Chicago water supply planning, and urban green infrastructure initiatives.
His publications highlight trends in collaborative planning technologies and stakeholder engagement strategies. Articles from 2017–2019 explore visualization tools, facilitated dialogue, and collaborative planning processes, reflecting interdisciplinary applications of learning sciences, urban policy, and conflict resolution methodologies.
