Dan Denis is a Lecturer in Psychology at the University of York since 2024. He received his PhD in Psychology from the University of Sheffield (2013-2017), preceded by an undergraduate degree and MRes in Psychology from Goldsmiths, University of London. His academic journey includes postdoctoral roles at Harvard Medical School, University of Notre Dame, and King’s College London. Denis is affiliated with the EPOC and SLAM research labs.

Research Focus: Cognitive neuroscience of adaptive memory formation, emphasizing sleep's role in prioritizing critical information through salience cues like emotion/reward. Key projects include:
- Adaptive memory consolidation (emotion/reward tagging)
- Sleep spindles in PTSD/schizophrenia
- Anomalous sleep phenomena (sleep paralysis)
- Neurophysiological markers of memory consolidation
His work combines behavioral studies with EEG to explore memory strengthening mechanisms, mental health implications, and sleep intervention strategies.
