Dan Christensen is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at The University of Western Ontario (UWO), part of the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences. He is also an Affiliate Member of the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. His research spans algebraic topology, homotopy type theory, category theory, and mathematical physics, with a focus on quantum gravity and computation.
As Editor-in-Chief of Homology, Homotopy and Applications and co-organizer of the Homotopy Type Theory Electronic Seminar Talks, he actively contributes to academic discourse. His work integrates theoretical foundations with computational tools, leveraging frameworks like SAGE for mathematical exploration.
Recent research includes advancements in homotopy theory, synthetic ∞-categories, and the application of type theory to algebraic structures. His students and postdocs explore topics such as homotopy type theory and derived categories. Christensen advocates for graduate studies in topology and related fields, emphasizing interdisciplinary opportunities at UWO and collaborations with the Perimeter Institute.
