معرفی
Dr. Dan Baker is a Professor at Vancouver Island University (VIU) in the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture. He has a PhD in Zoology (2010) and MSc in Biology (2004) from University of British Columbia, and a BSc in Animal Biology (1996) from the same institution. His research focuses on physiological responses of aquatic organisms to climate change, particularly thermal plasticity and acclimation in early life stages of fish.
- PhD in Zoology (2010), University of British Columbia
- MSc in Biology (2004), University of New Brunswick Saint John
- BSc in Animal Biology (1996), University of British Columbia
Dr. Baker's research investigates how early life exposure to environmental stressors like elevated temperature and CO2 affects long-term phenotypic plasticity in fish, especially sturgeon and salmonids. His work bridges conservation physiology, aquaculture, and climate change adaptation strategies.
Scientific awards include the NSERC Post-Doctoral Fellowship (2011), Andy Spencer Bamfield Research Fellowships (2013, 2015), and multiple travel grants from NSERC, VIUFA, and international societies. He has supervised 18 formal advisees (PhD, MSc, and undergraduate) and collaborated with institutions like UBC, DePaul University, and University of Auckland.
