Damon Bell

A/Prof Damon Bell is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer at the UWA Medical School, specializing in Chemical Pathology and Endocrinology. He holds clinical roles at Royal Perth Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital, and Clinipath Pathology, focusing on cardiometabolic medicine and lipid disorders. His academic leadership includes coordinating the Master of Clinical Research program and the Development and Communication of Research unit. He has a PhD from The University of Western Australia and multiple fellowships, including FRCPA and FRACP.

Education: MB ChB (University of Otago, New Zealand), PhD (UWA), and specialist training in Endocrinology and Chemical Pathology. He has supervised numerous postgraduate students and contributed to over 100 research outputs, focusing on familial hypercholesterolemia, lipid disorders, hypertension, and diabetes.

Research Interests: His work addresses inherited/acquired lipid disorders, hypertension, and their cardiovascular impacts. Key projects include identifying primary aldosteronism and auditing familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) cases. He collaborates internationally on guidelines for adrenal vein sampling and troponin-based risk prediction.

Grants: Active projects include investigating primary aldosteronism (2024–2027) and FH audits (2014–2015). His research contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health & Well-being).
