Damien Keane is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University at Buffalo, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on Anglophone modernism, Irish writing and culture, sound technologies, and the sociology of literature and institutions.

Keane’s research explores the intersections of modernist literature with emerging sound technologies, particularly radio and gramophone recordings. His work also addresses the role of media in shaping literary archives and institutions during the 20th century.
His notable publications include the book Ireland and the Problem of Information (2014), which won the 2015 Robert Rhodes Prize, and chapters on radio modernism, audio reproduction, and media sociology. Current projects examine Joyce’s gramophone recordings and mid-20th century “grey literature” related to media and morale.
