Dr. Damian Ekiert is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Johns Hopkins University, specializing in microbiology and biochemistry. His research explores bacterial and parasite cell biology, focusing on lipid transport, virulence factors, microsporidian parasite invasion mechanisms, and the evolution of minimal eukaryotic cells. Since 2017, he co-leads the Bhabha+Ekiert Labs, integrating structural biology, cryo-electron microscopy, and microbial genetics to study host-microbe interactions.
