His work examines ethnolinguistic solidarity, language loyalty among minority communities, and the ecological approach to studying endangered Slavic minority languages. He has made significant contributions to understanding the maintenance factors of Slavic minority languages, including demographic, social, and geographical characteristics that influence language preservation.
His extensive publication record reveals consistent scholarly engagement with Slovak studies, Sorbian studies, and comparative Slavic linguistics. The thematic progression of his work shows increasing focus on language policy, minority language revitalization, and the sociolinguistic dimensions of Slavic minority communities. His research spans historical analysis of standard language development, contemporary studies of language communities in Vojvodina and Lusatia, and theoretical contributions to language teaching methodology.
Professor Sokolović has taught numerous courses including Introduction to Polonistics, Modern Polish Language (multiple levels), Slovak Language (multiple levels), and History of the Slovak Language. His academic leadership extends to coordinating Erasmus+ exchanges and chairing the Multilingualism, Interculturality and Language Lab (CU.mil), which likely serves as a research hub for his work on multilingualism and intercultural communication.
