Dalene Duvenage

Dalene Duvenage serves as an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Buckingham's Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies (BUCSIS) within the Faculty of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences. With 31 years of professional experience spanning intelligence analysis, security risk management, and learning and development, she bridges academic research with practical intelligence work as a 'pracademic.'

Her educational background includes:

• Bachelors and Honours degrees in International Relations from University of Pretoria
• MPhil in Information and Knowledge Management from Stellenbosch University
• Professional Doctorate in Security Risk Management (DSyRM) at Portsmouth University

Duvenage's research focuses on intelligence analysis methodology, security risk management, and knowledge management applications in intelligence contexts. Her work examines professional identity formation among intelligence analysts, the intelligence cycle's effectiveness, strategic indicators development, and horizon scanning techniques. She has developed specialized frameworks like the 'Plugged in Environmental Scanning Model' and pioneered intelligence education programs across Africa.

Her publication record shows consistent output in intelligence studies since 2013, with particular emphasis on professionalizing intelligence analysis in Africa, private sector intelligence applications, and adapting traditional intelligence methodologies to contemporary challenges.
