Her teaching philosophy emphasizes helping students cultivate their unique voices through exploration of hybrid forms like autofiction, as well as popular genres such as speculative fiction and magical realism. Storm's creative work interrogates themes of personal identity, emotional intensity, and the boundaries between artistic expression and lived experience.
Recent publications include the short story Bird Woman (2018), the psychological narrative Sculpture (2018), and the domestic drama Winter's Kitchen (2018). She is currently developing a novella titled Intimate Traps and collaborating with her husband Jason Storm on a magical realist novel set in Washington state, tentatively named Kingwood.
