Dag Ahrén is a Senior Lecturer and Principal Investigator at Lund University's Department of Biology, specializing in Molecular Biosciences. His research examines genetic and genomic mechanisms in fungal host interactions using bioinformatics approaches. He coordinates the National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden (NBIS) and participates in the Geneco research school linking evolution, ecology and genomics.
Research explores nematode-trapping fungi evolution, ectomycorrhizal symbiosis, and functional soil diversity through metagenomics. Current projects include 'The origin of horses and their contribution to the success of the Vikings' and 'Bringing environmental DNA methods to BECC'.
