Dae Yong Kim serves as a Lecturer and Technology Director in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages at George Mason University, where he has taught Korean language and culture since fall 2017 while managing online foreign language placement examinations. His role encompasses curriculum development and serving as a subject matter expert for Korean language pedagogy.
He earned a Master's degree in Instructional Science and Technology from California State University, Monterey Bay, applying this expertise to language education technology systems.
Dr. Kim's research focuses on task-based language acquisition in digital environments, cultural immersion methodologies, and North-South Korean linguistic divergence. His innovative approaches include digital storytelling to build intercultural competence and comparative analysis of North Korean language through specialized textbooks. He teaches advanced courses like Transformation of Language and Culture in North and South Korea (KORE 340) and conducts professional development workshops for K-12 Korean language educators across the local community.
