Dada Docot is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Purdue University, specializing in the anthropology of the hometown and Filipino diaspora. Her work critically examines migration, postcolonialism, and visual methodologies.

Her research focuses on the intersections of migration, intimacy, colonial logics, and postcolonial precarity in Southeast Asia. She is currently finalizing her book Ambient Violence, an ethnographic study of her hometown in the Philippines shaped by overseas mobility.
Dada’s recent publications and films interrogate pandemic-era displacements, raciolinguistic disposability, and the politics of archives. Her work has received support from SSHRC-Canada, the University of Tokyo, and the Japanese Ministry of Education.

She co-founded the UBC Philippine Studies Series and serves as an affiliated faculty member at Purdue’s Cornerstone Program, Asian American Studies, and Asian Studies initiatives. Her films have been exhibited at the Society of Visual Anthropology’s Film Festival, UBC Museum of Anthropology, and CaixaForum Barcelona.
