DANIEL REY GARCIA

Daniel Rey García is a full-time Professor of Stratigraphy at the University of Vigo, affiliated with the Faculty of Marine Sciences and the Marine Geosciences and Spatial Planning Department. He leads the XM2 Marine and Environmental Geology Research Group and directs the Marine Research Center (CIM-UVigo) and the Campus do Mar. His research focuses on paleomagnetism, environmental magnetism, and integrated coastal zone management, with over 130 publications and 250 conference presentations.

• Education: PhD in Geology from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1993), thesis on paleomagnetic techniques in Permian/Triassic red materials.
• Key Roles: Founded the Paleomagnetism Laboratory (1995), coordinates multidisciplinary marine geology projects, and leads development of a hybrid propulsion research vessel.

Research interests include high-resolution paleoclimatic proxies, redox diagenesis of magnetic minerals, and anthropogenic pollution dynamics. He pioneered environmental magnetism studies in Spain and advanced methodologies for coastal oceanographic research.
