D. Samba Reddy

D. Samba Reddy is a Regents Professor in the Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics at Texas A&M University, and Director of the Institute of Pharmacology and Neurotherapeutics (IPN). His research focuses on molecular pathophysiology and neurotherapeutics for epilepsy, brain disorders, and neuroendocrine conditions. He holds affiliations with the Biomedical Engineering department and teaches in medical and graduate programs on pharmacology and therapeutics.

• Education: PhD in Pharmacology from Panjab University (1998), R.Ph. in Pharmacy from Texas State BOP (Austin), Postdoctoral training at NIH (Bethesda).
• Grants: NIH CounterACT project (nerve agent countermeasures), DOD-funded research (post-traumatic epilepsy in veterans).

Research Interests: Dr. Reddy pioneered neurosteroid replacement therapy (NRT) targeting epilepsy and mood disorders like postpartum depression. His lab developed FDA-approved drugs (brexanolone, ganaxolone) and investigates cannabinoids, epigenetic therapies, and antidotes for chemical warfare agents. He uses multidisciplinary approaches including neuroimaging, electrophysiology, and bioengineering.

Publications & Impact: Over 230 peer-reviewed articles (H-index 57), 475 presentations, and 100+ mentored students/postdocs. His work transformed clinical practice with FDA approvals for postpartum depression and epilepsy treatments.
