Frank Cézilly is a Professor at the University of Burgundy, affiliated with the Department of Ecology and Evolution within the Laboratoire Biogeosciences (CNRS UMR 5561). His research focuses on host-parasite interactions, sexual selection, and bird population biology, with notable studies on tropical bird species like the Zenaida dove and Greater Flamingo. He has authored the book De mâle en père (2014) and delivered a conference at Espace des Sciences in Rennes (February 2014). Collaborations include work with the Tour du Valat research center on flamingo population dynamics. His work integrates ecological, physiological, and genetic approaches to address evolutionary and conservation challenges.
Research interests include analyzing parasite-induced host behavior (e.g., host-manipulation hypotheses), mating strategies in monogamous birds, and the impact of environmental factors on bird survival and breeding success. Recent studies highlight invasive species dynamics, conservation in Haiti, and the genetic basis of phenotypic traits. Publications span topics from avian conservation to behavioral ecology, emphasizing transdisciplinary methods.
Professional activities include academic leadership at the Laboratoire Biogeosciences and contributions to biodiversity education in the Caribbean. His work bridges field studies, laboratory analyses, and citizen science initiatives, addressing both theoretical and applied ecological questions.
