Cécile Michaud is an Associate Professor and Director of the MA in History of Art and Curatorial Studies at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (Lima). She leads the international Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz's Max-Planck Partner Group 'Empires, Environments, Objects' (2022-2027).
- Education: PhD in Art History from Université de Strasbourg (2003)
Her research examines:
- Material and visual culture of the Viceroyalty of Peru (16th-18th century)
- Correlation between text and image in colonial contexts
- Relationship between religious literature (sermons, sacred poetry, hagiography) and artistic production
Scientific awards include:
- DAAD Doctoral Fellowship (1999-2000)
- KAAD Postdoctoral Fellowship (2017)
Her publications focus on transcultural methodologies, including collaborations on European prints in Peru, text-image dynamics in Latin America, and Andean pre-Hispanic art historiography. She contributes to debates on ecological heritage, digital archives, and museum futures through her institutional affiliations.
