Cäcilia Plate is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Cellular and Systems Biology of Animals, University of Hamburg, within the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences. She specializes in molecular animal physiology, focusing on ABCB transporters in insects, particularly the leaf beetle Chrysochus asclepiadeus. Her current work includes teaching in molecular physiology and finalizing datasets from her doctoral research.
- Ph.D. in Biology (2019-2023), University of Hamburg, focusing on molecular evolutionary biology
- M.Sc. in Biology (2015-2019), University of Hamburg
- B.Sc. in Biology (2011-2015), University of Hamburg
Her research bridges molecular physiology and evolutionary biology, investigating how insects develop resistance to natural toxins through transporter protein mechanisms. She has presented her findings at major conferences including the German Zoological Society and DGaaE Entomology meetings.
- Characterization of ABCB transporters in beetles (2023 symposium, Berlin)
- Functional analysis of toxin resistance mechanisms (2023 Entomology Conference, Bozen)
- Poster presentation on transporter protein evolution (2022 DZG Meeting, Bonn)
