Cyril Drag is a CNRS Researcher at the Plasma Physics Laboratory (LPP), part of the Low Temperature Plasmas Team at École Polytechnique. His work focuses on atomic physics, laser spectroscopy, and plasma diagnostics. Affiliated with UMR7648 and Sorbonne University, he holds a PhD (2000) and Habilitation (2010) from the Aimé-Cotton Laboratory, Orsay.
Research interests include: atomic structure via photodetachment microscopy, electron affinity metrology, optical parametric oscillators (CW, ns, ps), and spectroscopic techniques for cold plasma studies. Notable contributions span laser development for fusion energy applications and plasma diagnostics in low-temperature systems.
Recent work emphasizes iodine plasma characterization for electric propulsion, oxygen atom kinetics in CO₂ plasmas, and high-resolution spectroscopy of xenon/krypton hyperfine structures. Collaborative projects include the Siphore neutral beam system for DEMO fusion reactors.
Labs/Teams: Core member of LPP's Cold Plasmas Team. Active in transverse axes involving digital simulation and turbulence studies. Supervised projects on plasma diagnostics and laser systems development.
