Cynthia Tomcanin Rost is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Duquesne University's School of Nursing. She teaches courses in Behavioral Health Nursing, Population Health Nursing, Nursing Theory for Advanced Practice Nurses, Evidence-Based Practice, Service Learning, and clinical/population-based learning to undergraduate, RN-BSN, master’s, and DNP students. Rost has designed and delivered online nursing courses using the Blackboard IT framework.

Her research focuses on community health nursing, emphasizing self-efficacy in vulnerable populations, chronic mental health transitions, geriatric care, and the application of the 'Human Becoming Model' in mentoring community health nurses. She has developed population-based clinical programs and secured grants for healthcare access in underserved communities.
Rost's publications and presentations highlight her work on medication self-efficacy in elderly African-American hypertensives and community-based nursing interventions. Her studies span public health, geriatric nursing, and health equity.
