Cynthia Harbeck-Weber

Dr. Cynthia Harbeck-Weber is a Professor at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science with dual appointments in the Department of Psychiatry & Psychology and the Department of Pediatrics. She directs the Clinical Child Psychology Track within the Medical Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship Program and leads research and clinical work at the Pediatric Pain Rehabilitation Center in Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Harbeck-Weber specializes in pediatric pain management, chronic fatigue conditions, and the psychological aspects of chronic illness in children. Her clinical work focuses on children with diabetes, cancer, gastrointestinal disorders, and other complex medical conditions. She employs biofeedback techniques and evidence-based psychological interventions to help children manage pain and improve functioning.

Her research examines central sensitization mechanisms, interdisciplinary pain treatment outcomes, and the relationship between psychological factors and physical symptoms in pediatric populations. Recent publications highlight her work on young adult pain rehabilitation, parental perceptions of pediatric pain, and systematic reviews of intensive interdisciplinary pain treatment approaches.
