Cynthia Enloe is a Research Professor at Clark University’s Department of International Development, Community, and Environment (IDCE), with affiliations in Political Science and Women’s and Gender Studies. She is a pioneering feminist scholar known for her groundbreaking work on gender, militarism, and globalized economies.

Enloe’s research interrogates the intersections of feminism, militarism, and international politics, focusing on how women’s labor is commodified in globalized industries and their resistance to state-sponsored war efforts. Her work spans over five decades and has been translated into 14 languages.
Her most recent article, Wounds (2019), examines gendered impacts of conflict, while her 2023 book Twelve Feminist Lessons of War synthesizes women’s wartime experiences across Ukraine, Myanmar, and Gaza. Themes include feminist foreign policy, gendered violence, and postwar reconstruction.
