Cynthia E. Munoz

Cynthia E. Munoz is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California, and a pediatric psychologist at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). Her work spans clinical practice, research, and community engagement in the field of pediatric behavioral health and diabetes management.

Dr. Muñoz specializes in addressing behavioral health challenges in youth with insulin-treated diabetes, co-developing the Teen Power® program, a psychosocial intervention for diabetes management. Her research focuses on the intersection of diabetes and mental health, with a particular emphasis on pediatric type 1 and type 2 diabetes, and she has explored the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on diabetes care.

Her recent publications highlight trends in diabetes epidemiology, psychosocial interventions, and pediatric chronic disease management. She has also contributed to understanding diagnostic challenges in type 1 diabetes and pain experiences in pediatric oncology.
