Cuimin Ba is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Pittsburgh. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Her research focuses on microeconomic theory, with emphasis on learning mechanisms, information processing, behavioral economics, and dynamic games. She has been invited to speak at the Review of Economic Studies European Tour in 2023.
Key research interests include how representational and computational complexity shape belief formation, the interaction of cognitive constraints with learning environments, and the effects of overconfidence in multi-agent systems. Her work bridges theoretical models with experimental validation, addressing topics such as underreaction to information in simple environments versus overreaction in complex settings like financial markets.
Her publications explore robustness of misspecified models, strategic interactions in overconfidence scenarios, and the role of attention and processing biases in belief updating. Ongoing projects include reputational communication dynamics and controlling worldview in strategic contexts.
