Crystal A. Guzmán is a Professional Lecturer in the College of Science and Health at DePaul University. She holds a PhD in Biological Sciences and teaches foundational courses including Introduction to Biology with Laboratory (BIO 155) and Introduction to Environmental Science (ENV 101, ENV 102).
Her research spans Ecology, Environmental Science, and Biology with concentrated focus on tropical ecosystems. Dr. Guzmán investigates rodent-plant interactions, pasture management dynamics, and biodiversity conservation in agricultural landscapes through empirical field studies.
Her 2021 Oecologia publication examines rodent-mediated suppression of plant establishment in tropical pastures, revealing critical ecological relationships in managed landscapes. This work contributes to sustainable agriculture research by documenting how small mammal activity influences vegetation patterns in human-altered tropical environments.
