Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolisمعرفی
Cristine Czachowski, Ph.D., is a Professor and Area Head of the Addiction Neuroscience Graduate Program at Indiana University's School of Science, Neuroscience Department. She directs the NIAAA T32 Training Grant and holds affiliations with the Indiana Alcohol Research Center, Stark Neurosciences Research Institute, and Institute of Psychiatric Research. Her research focuses on understanding alcohol consumption regulation using animal models, particularly investigating neural mechanisms underlying alcohol craving and potential pharmacological interventions.
Dr. Czachowski's education includes a B.S. from Rutgers University (1989), M.A. (1994), and Ph.D. (1998) from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her work emphasizes translational research bridging basic neuroscience and clinical applications in addiction.
Her research interests center on the neuropharmacology of alcohol reinforcement and the development of treatments targeting pre-drinking craving phases. Recent studies explore COMT enzyme modulation, glutamate receptor effects, and varenicline's role in alcohol-seeking behaviors.
She is actively engaged in training through the T32 grant and oversees her lab's graduate student admissions. Key grants include the NIAAA T32 Training Grant. No specific awards are listed, though her research contributions are evident in high-impact publications.
Her lab's work integrates behavioral analysis with neuroanatomical approaches, using rat models to simulate human alcohol consumption patterns and test novel therapeutic strategies.
