Dr Cristina Valles is a Lecturer in Polymer Nanocomposites at the University of Manchester's Department of Materials. She leads research on multifunctional polymer nanocomposites for aerospace applications and nanostructured fibers for wearable electronics. Her work spans over 60 peer-reviewed publications and 50 conference presentations, including 15 invited talks. She holds two international patents and collaborates extensively with academia and industry. She coordinates the MSc Polymer Materials Science and Engineering program and teaches advanced polymer courses.
Research Interests:
- Epoxy nanocomposites for out-of-autoclave curing and CFRP repair
- Electrically conductive nanocomposites for thermoplastic welding
- Graphene/silica-based stimuli-responsive materials
- Vitrimer nanocomposites
- Wearable sensor fibers
Her recent work focuses on graphene nanoplatelet applications, vitrimer mechanics, and thermal transfer models for phase change materials. She maintains active collaborations through platforms like the National Graphene Institute. Supervised 2 research works and contributed to datasets on irradiated plastics and material characterization techniques.
