Cristina Galassi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Italian Language, Literature, and Arts in the World at the University for Foreigners of Perugia. She directs the Graduate School of Historical and Artistic Heritage, a consortium of 14 Italian universities, and co-edits the A-rated journal "Fontes. Journal of Iconography and History of Art Criticism" alongside the "Paradeigma" series. Her editorial service extends to "Rivista d'Arte," "Studi di Storia dell'Arte," and "Storia della Critica d'Arte."
Her research spans art criticism, iconology, and museology with specialized focus on 18th-19th century art historiography, Umbrian art, wooden sculpture, and Cesare Ripa's Iconology. Galassi investigates artist biographies, travel literature, art magazines, collecting practices, and the dispersion of artistic heritage, producing 290 publications including monographs on Palazzo Trinci, Napoleonic requisitions in Umbria, and Umbrian artists like Nero Alberti da Sansepolcro.

Galassi curated numerous art exhibitions and previously directed the University Center for Scientific Museums at the University of Perugia (2014-2020). She was appointed to the national committee for Perugino's 500th anniversary (2022) and serves as ANVUR interdisciplinary GEV for knowledge valorization (2024), teaching courses in Art History and Digital Humanities for Italian Artistic Tradition.
