Cristina Bacuta is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Delaware, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Mathematics from Texas A&M University and a B.S. in Mathematics from Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, Romania.
Her research focuses on numerical discretization of PDEs, finite element methods, and college mathematics education, particularly formative assessment strategies. She has published work on computational methods for convection-diffusion problems and has contributed to advancing numerical analysis techniques.
Bacuta teaches a wide range of undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses, including calculus, engineering mathematics, and mathematical modeling. She has been recognized with the College of Arts & Sciences Outstanding Teacher Award (2012) for her dedication to teaching excellence.
