Craig Vogel

Craig Vogel serves as Director of the Center for Design Research and Innovation and Professor in the School of Design at the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP), holding an appointment in Industrial Design. Previously, he was Co-Director of the Masters of Product Development (MIIPS) and Associate Dean at Carnegie Mellon University's College of Fine Arts.

His educational background includes:

• Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Marist College

Vogel's research spans integrated new product development, design strategy, and design history, emphasizing industry-academia collaboration. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications in consumer product innovation, particularly focusing on aging populations through initiatives like the Live Well Collaborative. He champions user-centered design methodologies and interdisciplinary team structures to solve complex product development challenges.

He co-founded the Live Well Collaborative—a UC/P&G partnership with four corporate members—creating cross-functional teams to design products/services for consumers over 50.

He leads UC's Center for Design Research and Innovation, fostering academic-industry partnerships while directing the Live Well Collaborative's mission to transform aging population experiences through human-centered design solutions.
