Craig J. Kennedy is an Associate Professor at Heriot-Watt University's School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society, and a member of the Institute for Sustainable Building Design. He holds leadership roles including Global Head of Discipline in Quantity Surveying and Construction Project Management, and chairs the Academic Integrity Group. Previously, he served as Head of Science at Historic Scotland and Senior Conservation Scientist. His research focuses on historic building materials, decay mechanisms, and conservation, with specializations in glass, timber, and parchment analysis.
Education: BSc in Biochemistry (University of Stirling), PhD in Structural Biophysics (Cardiff University).
Research Group: Includes Jessica Bowden (heritage and aging), Tony Osifo (IoT in oil projects), and Vivienne Kelly (stained glass risks). Active in SDG-related research.
Labs & Equipment: Oversees the Heritage Science Laboratory, managing advanced equipment like XRF systems and climate chambers.
