Craig Calvert is an Assistant Professor in Residence and Co-Director of the MEM (Master of Engineering Management) program at the University of Connecticut's School of Engineering. Affiliated with UConn since 1999 and teaching full-time since 2018, Dr. Calvert brings extensive industry and academic experience to his role.
His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, a PhD in inorganic materials chemistry, and a Master of Science in Business Analytics and Project Management—all from UConn.
Dr. Calvert's research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of engineering, business, and project management. His expertise includes engineering management, project management, business analytics, and technical operations, drawing from both academic training and real-world industry leadership. He is particularly passionate about the multidisciplinary approach of the MEM program, which prepares students with diverse, practical skills.
His career prior to full-time academia included roles in technical sales support, chemical safety consulting at Electric Boat, and project management in the VIRGINIA Program Office, giving him deep industry insight. He enjoys engaging students with innovative teaching methods and mentoring in applied engineering contexts.
