معرفی
Dr. Craig Buchanan is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London, with affiliations to the Robotic Additive Manufacturing Lab and the Alan Turing Institute's Data Centric Engineering programme. His research focuses on advanced manufacturing techniques, particularly 3D printing of metallic structures, and their structural performance in civil engineering applications. He leads projects such as the MX3D Bridge, the world's first 3D-printed steel pedestrian bridge, and has expertise in testing, simulation, and design guidance for additively manufactured materials.
Previously, Dr. Buchanan worked as a structural engineer on major infrastructure projects like Crossrail and London Underground. He holds awards including the 2012 Sparkes-Pippard Award, 2015 IStructE Young Researchers’ Conference Award, and 2018 Unwin Prize. His research spans civil engineering, materials science, and interdisciplinary engineering, with a focus on robotic additive manufacturing, thermal response analysis, and structural optimization.
Dr. Buchanan co-supervises student research projects and peer reviews technical journals. His work integrates data science and engineering principles to advance additive manufacturing applications in construction. He is affiliated with the Additive Manufacturing Network and Robotics Forum at Imperial College.
