Craig Bledsoe serves as Professor of Political Science, Provost and Chief Academic Officer at Lipscomb University since 1997, and Director of the Ph.D. in Leadership and Policy Studies Program. Under his academic leadership, the university expanded to ten colleges offering over 200 undergraduate programs, 24 master's degrees, and three doctoral programs with integrated community service components.
His educational foundation includes a Ph.D. in Political Science from Vanderbilt University, enabling his dual focus on administrative leadership and scholarly research.
Dr. Bledsoe's research centers on the critical intersection of religious belief systems and political affiliations, examining how faith traditions shape voting behavior and policy preferences in American politics. His expertise manifests in the American Political Institutions course taught in Washington, D.C., where he connects theoretical frameworks to real-world governance.
His scholarly recognition includes:
- Laine Travel Award for research on Soviet political transitions during the fall of Communist control
- Outstanding Teacher Award for pedagogical excellence
